Have you been itching to take a vacation? One advantage that courseware systems have over traditional classrooms is absolute portability. You can be anywhere in the world and still access your courseware system, read course material, and study for tests. Travelers are increasingly able to study from the comfort of hotel rooms and lounges, cafés and airports.

However, there’s one glitch in the internet-prolific world. Imagine a hotel with 1,000 rooms. One day there are 50 people talking on Skype, another 100 using their courseware systems, and another 200 people checking their email and LinkedIn accounts.

As more and more visitors come prepared with laptops, they also use greater amounts of bandwidth. And while travelers tend to want free internet access, hotels, airports and coffee shops are faced with the problem of paying for their wi-fi networks.
